Update: Avatar Amazing Amazing!

I don’t say it very often. That movie was amazing! Over the last five years, I’ve probably said all those words in the same sentence, maybe three times. And two of those times have been in the last year. Like everyone else, I was a little skeptical going into it. I figured the hype would quickly deflate the actual movie for me. But it didn’t and now I have seen the movie twice in 3D. And I’m sure I’ll go see it again before it’s all said and done. I will probably even shell out for the ultra awesome BluRay 40 disc set when it comes out.

And unless you have been living in a cave for the last week…Avatar Reached $1.1 Billion Worldwide. That makes it the fastest grossing film in the history of forever. Fox have released official international numbers for Avatar. The current total is $735,343,853 in international receipts for a worldwide total of $1,102,880,538. That’s just $30 million behind Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, which it will pass in the next two days or so to become the second highest grossing movie in history (see chart).

All that said…GO SEE IT! It has something for everyone. It has space and special effects (for the scifi geeks), a good message about mother Earth (for the enviro-friendly), and romance (for the women who are unwilling to compromise with their dates and go see the weird-large-blue-people-movie).
